About the Role
Volar seeks a Research & Training Development Intern. The Research & Training Intern is responsible for helping draft and develop Volar advising curriculum, programming playbooks, and training materials, in collaboration with Volar staff. This role is also responsible for conducting a literature review to identify comprehensive, integrated advising methods for current high school and first year college students to support their academic and professional goals to and through college.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Help design comprehensive, integrated advising curriculum that incorporates academic and non-academic supports to empower students to reach their educational goals.
Collaborate with Volar staff to document current advising practices and procedures.
Integrate needs assessments, and industry developments to curriculum.
Develop and create onboarding and training procedures for advisors and volunteers including guides, course materials, such as handouts or visual materials
Assess current Volar advising and programming for effectiveness and program needs.
Collect and analyze student participation data.
Conduct research on effective advising for high school students and postsecondary students, and help connect Volar best practices with their corresponding research.
Requirements
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field preferred.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in curriculum development.Â
Academic and/or work experience related to research in higher education or advising.
Experience providing college access guidance.Â
Experience working with high school students and/or college students.Â
Experience working with first generation college students and students of color.
