About the Role
The Marketing & Communications Intern will help advance marketing & communications goals to promote the messages, outreach and impact of Volar. This position will have a key focus on communications, marketing, data entry & management, and copy editing.
Responsibilities:
Graphic Creation: Design, create, and oversee production of infographics and other marketing collateral to promote Volar’s mission, events and messaging to students, volunteers, partners and donors.
Website Support: Create, maintain, and edit Volar’s website on a timely basis and recommend improvements related to content, graphics and design.
Social Media: Manage Volar’s social media calendar by creating and scheduling social media content across Volar’s social media platforms- Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Marketing & Communications Strategy Support: Support the Executive Director with the drafting and scheduling e-newsletters, digital and printed collateral, etc.
Media PR: Develop media pitches and schedule press releases to promote Volar’s upcoming events, such as our Fall Fundraiser, North Texas Giving Day, and Senior Scholarship Fundraising.
Communication Assets: Manages the organization’s communications assets, including photo library, success stories, logo library, infographics, design files, print, and digital collateral on Google Drive and Canva.
Metrics: Capture social media metrics, e-newsletter open rates, and other communication metrics across the organization to assess communication strategy and adjust as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in nonprofits, marketing and communications is preferred.
Proficiency in using social media tools including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc, are required.
Ability to help plan, create, edit, and produce content for newsletters, annual reports, marketing literature, and other collateral.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a genuine commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment for students from all backgrounds.
Enrolled in a 4-year university majoring in Communication, Public Relations, English, Education, Nonprofit Management, Marketing or equivalent.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Passionate about Volar’s mission and impact
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Cultural competency and understanding of diverse populations preferred
